Four campuses elected to host graduation ceremonies at the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum in Rainsville. DeKalb County Superintendent Jason Barnett said during the April 22 board meeting, while they welcome any schools to the DCSC, other institutes elected to hold their commencement ceremonies on their home football fields or school gymnasium, with the local gymnasiums as a backup in the event of rain. âOur senior class has faced a lot of challenges and we want them to have a good graduation,â said Barnett. The DeKalb County Board of Education on Tuesday night heard from board attorney Taylor Brooks of Lanier Ford Shaver and Payne Attorney at Law, following the approval of the resignation of DeKalb County Superintendent Jason Barnett effective June 8, 2021. Brooks took the opportunity to walk the board through the process of selecting a new superintendent for the district. âI represent a lot of boards of education around north Alabama, and part of my service is to do superintendent searches for various boards,â said Brooks. âWithin the last year, Morgan County had a middle of the term search for a superintendent which would be very similar to this situation.â ....
