Looks like the City of Minneapolis has finally had it with BLM taking up residence in “George Floyd Square.”
BLM had blocked the street for months since the death of George Floyd last year. They set up a memorial there, but they also blocked the streets in the area with barricades, camped out, didn’t allow police in the area, and prevented cars from getting through.
But today, city workers descended on the area starting before dawn and cleared away the barricades preventing traffic from getting through the intersection. They are going to preserved aspects of the memorial.
Derek Chauvin Conviction: Judge Says Prosecutors Proved Multiple Aggravated Sentencing Factors, Including Cruelty
CBS Minnesota 1 hr ago Syndicated Local – WCCO | CBS Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) Judge Peter Cahill says prosecutors in the Derek Chauvin trial have proven “beyond a reasonable doubt” some aggravated sentencing factors, including cruelty.
Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted in the murder of George Floyd, is set to be sentenced on June 25. It was originally scheduled for June 16, but pushed back.
According to Cahill, prosecutors have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Chauvin abused a position of authority, treated Floyd with particular cruelty, children were present during the commission of the offense, and Chauvin committed the crime as a group with the active participation of at least three other people.

Bad news for the defense, although they had to see it coming. Even though his second-degree murder conviction carried a potential sentence of 40 years, Derek Chauvin’s status as a first-time offender put him in range for a 12-15 year prison sentence. However, the judge presiding in the trial over the death of George Floyd in police custody ruled this morning that aggravating factors apply and Chauvin might get a lot closer to that 40-year maximum as a result:
A Minnesota judge has ruled that there were aggravating factors in the death of George Floyd, paving the way for a longer sentence for Derek Chauvin, according to an order made public Wednesday.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) Morning radio in Minnesota just won’t be the same. Friday marks Dave Lee’s final show at WCCO Radio.
After 32 years, Lee is heading into retirement. Gov. Tim Walz, who was a guest on Lee’s final show, declared that Friday was Dave Lee Day in Minnesota in honor of the broadcaster’s “incredible” career.
While many Minnesotans know Lee’s voice from his beloved morning show, Lee also did sports play-by-play and was a tireless fundraiser for the community. He also regularly appeared on WCCO-TV.
