Routine pipeline work may produce tall flames in Sampson County :: WRAL.com

Dunn, N.C. Routine pipeline maintenance work planned this week may alarm some Sampson County residents.
Weather permitting, Piedmont Natural Gas will be conducting flaring operations in Dunn and Salemburg Dec. 14-18 which may produce a loud noise, a tall flame and the smell of natural gas, which could be noticed by nearby homes and businesses.
The work will be performed at the following sites:
1000 Union Church Grove Road in Dunn
527 Horse Pasture Road in Salemburg
The work, which uses a flare stack, or a large, vertical pipe, is a controlled process that will be managed and monitored by Piedmont Natural Gas personnel in cooperation with local fire department resources, officials said. ....
