It’s hard to pin down the precise moment when food tech went from the concern of a few product specialists in lab coats to a mainstream source of excitement.
It could’ve been way back in April 2003, when scientists first mapped the human genome, paving the way for personalised DNA diet kits. Or 2011, when US scientist Patrick Brown founded Impossible Foods, crafting meatless patties out of modified soy and heme. Perhaps even as recently as December 2020, when regulators in Singapore green-lit lab-grown chicken, built from cells and bathed in a growth serum. ....

Birds Eye Expanding Plant-Based Green Cuisine Range

Birds Eye is adding to its plant-based Green Cuisine range with the launch of three more Chicken-Free options.
The new products – Crispy Grills, Southern Fried Grills, and Burgers – are rolling in Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons this month, offering consumers more meat-free alternatives in the frozen aisle.
Birds Eye has seen over 31% of total Green Cuisine sales come from the three Chicken-Free SKUs it launched in 2020 (meat-free Dippers, Nuggets and Strips). The brand claims its foray into Chicken-Free has helped bring new shoppers into the category, with penetration of the Green Cuisine range now up to 8.7%.
