WOBURN â When the final prayers had been said and the body had been blessed, the man in the sequined red-tailed ringmasterâs costume stepped up at the graveside and summoned the deep, baritone voice familiar to the circus audiences he entertained across the decades.

Christmas came early for connections of Irish point-to-pointer Classic Getaway who equalled the highest price paid for a pointer at public auction when he was knocked down for £570,000 at today’s (17 December) Goffs UK Yorton Sale.
The price is a headline in itself, but the result is made even more spectacular by the fact that the sale marks a £500,000+ profit on an 18-month turnaround for Monbeg, who bought the son of Getaway for £65,000 from breeder Ballincurrig House Stud at the 2019 Goffs UK Spring Store Sale.
