Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Troy Miller said Thursday that Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott has been replaced by Deputy Chief Raul Ortiz. Miller’s announcement thanked Scott for his service, but included no details on the reasons behind the departure. ....
Education leaders in Suffolk believe the Government s plans could have gone further - Credit: PA Education leaders in Suffolk have raised concerns about the amount of money being offered by the Government to help pupils catch up after the Covid pandemic. On Wednesday the Department for Education announced that £1.4billion of funding would be made available to offer pupils up to 100 million hours of tuition. But the £1.4bn – made available on top of £1.7bn already pledged – has come under fire as being insufficient to deal with the problems caused by the pandemic. SCHOOL bosses have paused a proposed staffing shake-up after protesting teachers, students and parents engaged in a three day strike. The Academies Enterprise Trust, which runs 58 schools, had planned to restructure Tendring Technology College, which has campuses in Frinton and Thorpe-le-Soken. The state-funded organisation suggested the changes would see students benefit from more teaching time and additional opportunities at the school’s sixth form. Bosses were also said to be looking at creating a new pastoral director post to support pupils and acquiring speciality medical support at each site. School staff, however, believed the shake-up would result in damning job cuts, which in turn could impact the quality of education and support available to students. ....
