ABC Columbia Jan 26, 2021 12:00 PM EST COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker has identified the victim from a fatal accident that occurred on Monday night around 8:45 p.m. The coroner says 43-year-old Jermaine Williams was pronounced dead on Tuesday at Prisma Health Tuomey, as a result of a vehicle versus bicycle accident that happened on Jackson Street at Miller Road. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The accident remains under investigation by the Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office. ....

Outside, she could see police blocking the road and protesters in the street; at one point, several officers surrounded a man. As the bus idled, Dixon asked to borrow a cell phone from a stranger. âWhoâre you calling?â he asked her. âI just need to call my family,â she told him. But Dixon wasnât calling her family. Instead, she dialed the number for the Helen B. Ratcliff work release facility, where she was then incarcerated. A staffer there told her to stay on the bus. ....
