Man sentenced to community service for spitting at Jeremy Corbyn

A man who spat in Jeremy Corbyn’s face while the former Labour leader was out cycling with his wife at the height of the first coronavirus lockdown has been sentenced to 80 hours of community service.
Gerald Dore admitted assault by beating for spitting at Corbyn, and a public order offence for threatening Corbyn’s wife, Laura Alvarez. But he said the attack was not politically motivated.
“I don’t know him,” Dore, 56, told Westminster magistrates court. “I didn’t dislike him, he was just in my way and I was trying to get home.” ....

A man who spat in the face of Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn during the first wave of the pandemic and verbally abused the politician s wife has been sentenced.
Gerald Dore, 56, from Islington, admitted both assault by beating for having spat at the former Labour leader and a public order offence for verbally abusing and physically threatening Laura Alvarez.
The incident happened at about 11.20am on May 20 last year, when Mr Corbyn was cycling with Ms Alvarez near his home.
As he reached a junction of Seven Sisters Road he saw Dore, who appeared to be about to cross the road. ....

Covid: Man fined for spitting at Labour's Jeremy Corbyn

A man who spat in the face of Jeremy Corbyn during the first wave of the pandemic and verbally abused his wife has been sentenced.
Gerald Dore, 56, from Islington, admitted a charge of assault by beating for spitting at the former Labour leader and a public order offence for verbally abusing and physically threatening Laura Alvarez.
He was sentenced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (28/01/21) to an 18-month community order, with 80 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £150 compensation to Mr Corbyn and £100 to Ms Alvarez.
At about 11.20 am on 20 May 2020, My Corbyn was cycling with Ms Alvarez near his home. ....

A former plumber who spat in Jeremy Corbyn s face and hurled a barrage of abuse at his wife during the first wave of the pandemic today avoided jail.
Gerald Dore, 56, assaulted former Labour leader Mr Corbyn in the morning of May 20 last year while he was cycling with his wife Laura Alvarez.
Prosecutor Matt Barrowcliffe told Westminster Magistrates Court the Islington North MP had stopped at the corner of Seven Sisters Road, north London where Dore was waiting to cross.
Gesturing to let Dore cross, the man swore at Mr Corbyn who said there was no need to use that language before the defendant continued. ....
