Representative image JAISALMER: A youth eloped with a minor girl of minority community in Jaisalmer. Hundreds of people of minority community demonstrated and submitted a memorandum to the district collector on Saturday. They also gave ultimatum that if the girl is not recovered till Monday then they will intensify their agitation. Two teams have been sent in search of the girl. Police have so far have arrested five culprits who had helped the boy in eloping with the girl. A large number of people of minority community gathered at Hanuman Circle and proceeded to the collectorate. They submitted a memorandum in which they alleged that on February 2, a major youth of Meghwal community eloped with a minor girl of minority community. The couple was in Mt Abu on February 3 after which there was no information about them. They have also alleged that there is a gang involved and the minor has been gangraped. Farmers unions had on Monday announced a countrywide chakka jam from 12noon to 3pm on February 6 when they would block national and state highways in protest against the Internet ban in areas near their agitation sites, harassment allegedly meted out to them by authorities, and other issues. Farmers at many places including Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Dholpur and Jhalawar in the state blocked the highways and main roads and held demonstrations, police said. ....
Rajasthan high court JAIPUR: Rajasthan High Court in a first-of-its-kind order said a gold smuggler prosecuted under customs Act could also be prosecuted under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act treating it as terror. The single bench of Justice Satish Sharma gave the order on a petition by Mohammad Aslam seeking to quash the FIR against him. He was caught along with nine others by customs department at Jaipur airport for smuggling gold worth around Rs 9 crore from Dubai. He and others were prosecuted under customs Act, but NIA also initiated a case under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) covering him as terrorist. ....
