I’m not sure about you but I enjoy a good snow storm. Not only is it pretty when you look out of the window, it gives us some downtime to organize, read or do whatever our heart desires. This past snowstorm I found myself organizing the photos on my laptop. As someone who takes many pictures over the course of a week, I had a lot of pictures and they all needed to be renamed, deleted or put into folders before I forgot where they were or where they belonged. ....

For almost 100 years. there was a school that stood where you can now find the Washington Street Plaza. For many Somersworth seniors, that school holds some dear memories. If you grew up in Somersworth pre-1956, you will likely remember that school.
The school that I am referring to is now recalled as the Burleigh School, but when built in 1875, it was referred to as the Orange Street School. The reason for this is back then, the street we now refer to as Constitutional Way, was in fact Orange Street. The school fronted onto what was Orange Street and so earned the name. ....

It’s not every day you get to help build a church, let alone one that is 7,632 miles away. But that is exactly what the parishioners of St. Ignatius of Loyola in Somersworth and St. Mary’s in Rollinsford have done.
While they may not have physically had a hand in building the church, without their generosity, the Mary Immaculate Church for the community of Yurembam in India could not have become a reality today. Yurembam is a small village located in the Manipur Province of North East India and home to the Catholic Parish of St. Paul’s. ....

It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas and the holidays in my home, and I hope in yours, too, no matter how you celebrate the season. With the recent snowfall and after the driveway is cleared I love nothing better than curling up in a comfy chair and enjoying some quiet reading time. That’s a big part of the reason I am so grateful to the staff of the Somersworth Public Library on Main Street.
I get recommendations from people all the time on books that might interest me and they are always able to find the book, thanks in part to the interlibrary exchange program. What you might not know is Somersworth residents have been blessed with a library since 1842. ....
