MERIDEN Proactive patrols have been deployed in “areas of main concern” after a recent spike in car burglaries, according to police.
More than 100 vehicles were burglarized in Newington on Dec. 8. Days later, more than 40 were burglarized in Meriden.
During these recent patrols, police took a suspect into custody early Sunday morning, Lt. John Mennone said.
After getting a call about suspicious activity, officers flooded the area with patrol units and tried to stop a suspicious vehicle in the South Meriden area, he said.
