The Sedor family had a niece come and stay with grandma and grandpa, who found out days later that the niece had a confirmed COVID child in her class back home. This began the barrage of phone calls, isolation and testing of which the youngest Sedor was the only one out of the five in the family who tested positive. Even though, Tim, Jenn, Lily and Tayo tested negative, Jenn volunteered to isolate in a room in the house, just June and her. Although June tested positive, her symptoms were none other than the occasional sneeze and a bit of a runny nose, “Nothing that any parent would even think was odd for every day in a toddler’s life,” Jenn Sedor said. ....
The proposed location is in Centennial Park, which is on the corner of Main Street and Mountain Drive. Two very busy streets. There would be limited parking at this location, which would mean parking on the street, which would be very dangerous. There are no bathroom facilities, and sewer would have to be dug in at a cost. The second location, Lions Park, is in the area of the Crescent Point Leisure Centre. It has ample parking, bathroom facilities close by, and sewer would still have to be dug in at a cost. March 3 is the next council meeting, at which time the location decision will be made. To voice your opinion please talk to Mayor Jen Sedor or a council member or Natalie at the town office ....
“My heart is overflowing! It was something very special to see the smiles of young and old alike. No one was sad to see Santa that day” stated Jen Sedor, the librarian at the Carlyle Public Library. Sedor would like to give a special thank you to The Carlyle Public Library, Town of Carlyle crew, Merit Ford, Carlyle GM, The Dickens Village Festival, the Town of Carlyle-RM of Moose Mountain No. 63 fire department and of course to Santa himself for bringing joy to everyone in the town. “It has been a different year for sure! But thankfully there are those in our community who have brought some extra cheers to those in need,” Sedor says. ....
Everyone was excited that the new fire hall is very close to completion. The equipment is being moved over from current location, minor follow-up work would need to be completed but will be fully operational in the coming week. Miller said council was super happy to see this project come together and on time. They weren’t sure how the pandemic would impact it, but thankfully there was minimal interruption. With COVID restrictions in place, there was no grand opening or huge celebration of the new fire hall but the Town of Carlyle staff and council were hoping that people would rejoice in the completion of this modern, well-equipped facility for our area. A few were present for a ribbon cutting on Monday. ....
Just because we cannot all gather in our communities in great crowds with singing, hot chocolate, beautiful lights and festive spirits, it doesn’t mean that Sedor can’t bring it to you. As with all of Sedor’s crazy ideas, it just takes some planning and action to make it a reality. You and your family can sit outside on Dec. 12 with your favourite snack or beverage on your lawn or driveway and wait with anticipation to catch a glimpse of Claus himself. You will know he is coming because he will be accompanied by the lights and sirens of the Carlyle Fire Department. ....
