Fifteen seniors who took the Senior Capstone in Math course this spring put their modeling skills to the test to help officials evaluate past coronavirus policies and predict future outcomes. At the end of the semester, the students presented the results to their clients, Jennifer Schneider, the Eugene H. Fram Chair of Applied Critical Thinking and a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management and Safety, and Suronda Gonzalez, executive director of Upstate New York College Collaboration.

Dr. Maulik Majmuda has joined Boston-based virtual care and digital therapeutics company
Biofourmis as its chief medical officer, the company announced this week.
Prior to this new role, Majmudar served as medical office at Amazon, where he led the development and launch of Amazon Halo. He also completed a stint at Massachusetts General Hospital as an associate director of the Healthcare Transformation Lab, and was an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School.
Majmudar has a history with Biofourmis. He joined the company’s clinical advisory board in 2015 and has served on its board of directors since 2019.
As CMO, he will work to expand the company’s clinical care services, oversee product management, data science and clinical affairs.

The town’s Environmental Department held a number of events in April to mark Arbor Day and Earth Day as it continues to maintain the environment.
Two cleanup days brought together more than 70 participants. The first, at Mill Creek Point, was followed by one at Mill Creek Marsh Trail. Volunteers hauled away several bags of Styrofoam, plastic bags, beverage bottles, tires, car parts, and a large plastic trunk.
“We had an amazing turnout at both cleanup sessions,” Environmental Coordinator Jennifer Schneider said in the town’s May newsletter. “It was a great group of enthusiastic volunteers to work with! I hope people are more aware of what and where they are discarding litter, because what is left on land will end up polluting our waterways through stormwater runoff.
