One is that Canada’s climate-change policies focus too much on prevention and too little on adaptation. This is doubly sad when you consider that Canada has absolutely no control over the path of climate change. We emit only 1 1/2 per cent of global greenhouse gases (World Resources Institute, 2021, Climate Watch Country Historical Greenhouse Gas Emissions), and many of our expensive climate change policies only nibble at the edges of this amount and do little to prevent the loss of Canadian lives and property.
