The Cheers Trail program/brochure started in 2016, according to Henderson County TDA Assistant Director Karen Baker. Last year, The Cheers Trail Passport became available and can be purchased at the Visitor Center on Main Street for $10. Participants who visit at least 12 venues and get their passport stamped can redeem a gift valued at $10 once it is brought back to the Visitor Center. Gift options include a set of four stone coasters, a wine stopper, stainless steel wine glass or a waiter’s bottle opening tool, according to the Visit Hendersonville website. The Cheers Trail Passport was launched in May 2020, and about 1,000 have been sold since then, according to Baker. The passport has no expiration date and may be experienced year-round. ....

“Covid-19 made us do a lot of things this year that we had not done in the past,” said McIntyre, who lives with his wife and coproducer Deni, in the Crab Creek community. “We needed to have a location where we could bring these performers in and make them feel safe and basically take over the while place. We had like two pages of protocol we had to follow. Nobody got sick. Parents and school supporters are sponsoring proms at various venues in the coming days despite the fact that statewide Covid-19 restrictions bar the high schools themselves from participating in the traditional spring dance that students missed last year. “The students have made many sacrifices during this pandemic and we felt like the students were most deserving of a special night,” said Alison Gosnell, one of the parent organizers of the prom at Hendersonville High School. “The best reactions I have gotten are really from the students. They have been telling me ‘thank you’ and telling me about their dresses and tuxedo selections.” ....
