Local Aviation Legend Peni Nelson Joins Desert Jet Center FBO at KTRM

AVweb Palm Springs/Thermal, California, February 1, 2021 – Desert Jet Center, the desert’s newest and highest customer-rated Fixed Base Operator (FBO) located at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport (KTRM) in Thermal, California, hires aviation veteran Peni Nelson as its new Customer Relations Advisor. Well-known and highly respected, Ms. Nelson is considered a local legend by the aviation community and dignitaries in the Greater Palm Springs area. Her achievements and contributions to the industry have earned her national as well as local recognition. She was named one of the nation’s top 12 Fixed Base Operator (FBO) Employees by the national publication, Professional Pilot Magazine, an award she received for ten consecutive years. Ms. Nelson was also honored on July 16, 1997, with the proclamation of the Peni Nelson Day by then-Mayor of Palm Springs, California, William G. Kleindienst.

Neste, Avfuel partner for sustainable aviation fuel supply , January 17, 2021 Neste and Avfuel have announced a strategic partnership to create an efficient, continuous supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the US.   Neste will provide Avfuel with SAF in volumes able to meet the growing demands of Avfuel’s customers, including fixed base operators (FBOs), airports, flight departments, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and commercial operators. Avfuel will be a branded SAF distributor for Neste, and will sell it under the brand name Neste MY Sustainable Aviation FuelTM.   The strategic partnership positions Avfuel as one of the first US companies able to supply its customers with SAF on a continuous basis. Monterey Jet Center (KMRY) – an Avfuel-branded FBO in Monterey, California – will be the first customer to receive a consistent supply of SAF.

The airport put the brakes on a number of infrastructure projects following the collapse in demand for air travel last year but says the new exit from the international terminal area for travellers will deliver a robust transport network to meet future demand. The $10 million project is due to be finished around the middle of the year.
