California Latinos are behind in COVID-19 vaccinations. Here's what is holding them back

Latino adults who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine are twice as likely as white and Black adults to say they want one as soon as possible, according to a new national survey from the Kaiser Family Foundation COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor.

About 33% of unvaccinated Latinos told researchers that they want a shot as soon as they can get one, compared to 16% of unvaccinated white adults and 17% of unvaccinated Black adults.
Researchers gathered the data by surveying 2,097 U.S. adults, including 778 Latino adults, between April 15-29 of this year. ....

Health Equity Fund Bill Clears First Policy Committee
Tuesday, the Assembly Health Committee approved Assembly Bill 1038, authored by Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson), which will create the California Health Equity Fund. AB 1038, and an accompanying one-time $180 million General Fund budget request, will provide first-of-its-kind funding to support community-based initiatives working toward addressing the devastating health and social inequities exacerbated by COVID-19.

In Los Angeles County last week, 211 LA, a local non-profit organization that provides health-related information and services to residents, announced that it had reached an important milestone.
Celebrating its success, the community-based organization shared with California Black Media that it has been instrumental in helping more than 100,000 Angelenos sign up for vaccines since the state started rolling out its COVID-19 vaccination plan. Most of the people 211 LA helped get vaccinated were minorities living in greater LA communities that COVID-19 has hit hard. ....
