Options for federal funding Here is my response to The Sun s call for letters on city spending. First do no harm, do not go on a hiring or spending spree that will increase city obligations down the road. If at all possible, given the spending constraints, use the money to retire debt. This is a gift that keeps on giving and benefits everyone. It has been a real privilege, to relate so closely with people, in meaningful dialogue about such personal thoughts and values. All of us in health care understand the seriousness of this process, in dealing with care at the end of life. I urge everyone to complete this planning, designating someone to speak for you, if the time occurs that you cannot speak for yourself. ....
