WT offers students hope and opportunity through financial aid WTAMU Newsroom CANYON Incoming and continuing students at West Texas A&M University can qualify in two ways for free money, thanks to a pair of financial aid avenues the WT Hope Scholarship and the WT Opportunity Grant. The WT Hope Scholarship offers more than $500,000 for first-time and transfer students who reflect the state’s demographics, particularly minorities, first-generation students and students from low-income families. “Many high school graduates want to continue their education, but they think, for any number of reasons, that college just isn’t an option for them,” said Jeffrey Baylor, executive director of admissions. “The Hope Scholarship is intended to open up educational options for these students and is just one way that shows how committed we are to serving a diverse student body at WT.” ....

WT housing, meal plan requirements shifting for Fall 2021 WTAMU Newsroom CANYON Changes to West Texas A&M University’s housing and meal plan requirements will go into effect for Fall 2021, simplifying the conditions new students must meet. Beginning in the fall, all full-time students (those enrolled in 12 or more semester hours) who are younger than 20 years old by the first class day will be required to live in university housing during their first two years following high school graduation. Previously, full-time students were required to live in university housing if they were younger than 21 years old on the first class day, had not lived on-campus for at least four fall or spring semesters, and had completed fewer than 60 post-high school credit hours. ....
WTAMU Newsroom CANYON As West Texas A&M University prepares to open its spring semester on Monday, registration is still open and the university remains committed to serving its students on an individual basis. “Following CDC guidelines and the best advice from experts as vaccines become more widely available, we have renewed optimism about our spring semester and how we will continue to resume normal campus life,” said WTAMU President Dr. Walter Wendler. “As we do, we will continue to respond in every way possible to the specific needs and hardships of our students and their families.” Spring athletics will resume, though in front of reduced crowds, with plans to expand crowds for athletic events as the semester progresses. ....
