RACINE â Thirty percent of children that live in Racine are living in poverty. To help combat childhood hunger, The Salvation Army of Racine and the Racine Police Department joined together in May 2019 to launch the Healthy Kids Diner. The year-round program, typically held at Racine Community Oriented Policing Houses or COP houses, provides a nutritious dinner for any child in need. Meals, which include a protein, vegetable, fruit, grain and milk, are served Monday through Friday at the Mead Street Cop House, 1750 Mead St., from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. and the Geneva Street Cop House, 1140 Geneva St., from 4 to 4:30 p.m. ....

A 34-year-old female from Seba Beach, Alta. was the driver of the other vehicle. Initially, during the investigation, the 34-year-old female provided a false name and was subsequently charged with obstructing justice. Her first appearance is scheduled for June 2, 2021, at Stony Plain Provincial Court. She cannot be named at this point in time as her court documents are still in the process of being sworn. ....

RACINE â The total from The Salvation Army of Racineâs 2020 Red Kettle Campaign is in. The goal for the 2020 campaign was to raise $340,000, and together with the generosity of the community, a double match day from Fisk Johnson of SC Johnson, a match day from First Call Heating and Cooling, and a few major donors, they raised $320,000. Of that total, $180,000 was collected at the red kettles in the campaign from Nov. 13-Dec. 24. âThe Salvation Army Racine made a call for help to Rescue Christmas in 2020, and our community answered at the Red Kettle,â said Maj. Jeffery Russell with The Salvation Army of Racine. âIn a year of unprecedented need, we expected a possible 50% decrease in fundraising at the red kettle. Instead, we were able to come close our goal and provide help to so many in need. That is because of partners, donors and tireless workers who stepped up amid the affects by COVID-19 in 2020.â ....
