Thousands expected to attend music festival at Burl's Creek in Oro-Medonte

The stage is set for the return of live music at Burl s Creek in Oro-Medonte.
The Endless Summer Series kicks off with a three-day classic rock festival featuring tribute artists.
Concertgoers who chose to camp for the weekend started arriving Friday morning, with performances scheduled throughout the long weekend.
This is an opportunity to have real, live outdoor amplified music, said Todd Jenereaux, EVP of Republic Live. We re trying to bring people back to give them the experience they ve been missing for two years.
This will mark Ontario s first outdoor live concert since the pandemic began, and for the thousands of people expected over the weekend, it s been a long time coming. ....

Naples youth jazz gets a concerto from Barron Collier student


At age 17, Barron Collier High School junior Chris Sochor has written a jazz concerto, a piano suite and any number of shorter pieces bubbling up from his music-steeped mind.
He s about to have something only a few composers his age get, however: hearing it performed for an audience by a jazz orchestra. The premiere is this Sunday at Artis Naples. Not that Chris will have the luxury of enjoying it from the audience he s the featured pianist in the Concerto of the Unheard, which the Naples Youth Jazz Orchestra performs in concert. Bike lane vote: Discussion over controversial route through Stanley Park pushed back


 
VANCOUVER
A vote on a controversial proposal to create a temporary bike lane on Stanley Park Drive this spring and summer did not go ahead as planned on Monday night after other agenda items took up too much time.
Instead, the commissioners are now scheduled to vote Tuesday evening on the plan that would see motor vehicle traffic siphoned down to a single lane so the second lane could be dedicated for cycling.
It’s similar to the initiative that took place last year between June and September.
According to park board staff, there was a surge in the number of cyclists using the park – but many businesses complained about parking and accessibility, saying the removal of the traffic lane kept customers away. ....

Vancouver Park Board set to vote on temporary Stanley Park bike lane


 
VANCOUVER The Vancouver Park Board will soon decide whether the temporary bike lane in Stanley Park will return.
The route would give cyclists exclusive use of one of the two lanes on Stanley Park Drive. Motor vehicles and horse-drawn carriages would share the other lane.
Park board Commissioner Camil Dumont presented the motion last month, suggesting the bike lane be reinstated in the coming weeks, until at least October 31.
Meanwhile, one of Dumont’s colleagues says she’s hearing from residents who don’t want vehicle access reduced again this summer.
“I think everyone was just appalled, and hurt, and distressed by it,” says park board Commissioner Tricia Barker. ....
