A home invasion suspect was shot by a homeowner in Cathedral City on Sunday evening in the 38200 block of Chuperosa Lane, according to the Cathedral City Police Department. Police said dispatch received 911 calls around 6:15 p.m., reporting that a male intruder had entered the home and threatened the elderly occupants to leave. The homeowners attempted to defuse the situation, but the intruder became agitated and made threats against their lives, according to police. Officials said the 85-year-old homeowner then retrieved a firearm and shot the intruder in the upper body. Officers arrived on the scene and began conducting emergency life-saving measures. The subject was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit. ....
Police investigate injury crash on Landau Boulevard in Cathedral City Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Landau Boulevard and McCallum Way in Cathedral City Friday afternoon. One adult was taken to the hospital for a head injury, CCPD Commander Julio Luna told News Channel 3. The Northbound lanes of Landau are open, but the Southbound lanes will remain closed until around 7 p.m. Police are working to determine the cause of the crash. Cathedral City Police search for stolen vehicle suspect near Via De Anza Cathedral City police officers are searching for a suspect who fled from a stolen vehicle near the area of Via de Anza and Dinah Shore. We ve received multiple calls to the newsroom from concerned residents who say that police have blocked off roads and a helicopter is circling the area. Commander Julio Luna told News Channel 3 that officer spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, a suspect fled from the vehicle on foot. Officers were unable to locate the driver. There was no description available at this time. ....
27 Palm Springs police employees out due to COVID; Response to calls not impacted The Palm Springs Police Department revealed that nine employees have tested positive for the coronavirus. 27 total sworn and/or non-sworn members of various areas of PSPD are currently unable to work due to a positive test, COVD-19 exposure quarantine guidelines, or taking care of family members impacted, The outbreak has not impacted police s response to service calls, Kovaleff confirmed. The staffing vacancies are being filled by personnel from other areas of the Police Department.
