GUILFORD It all started when foster kid Noah Ehlert got his very first bike at age 13.
Decades later, through sunshine and freezing temperatures, rain, hail and dust storms, Ehlert rode his bicycle from California to Florida with one thing on his mind: Children living in foster care.
The Guilford resident’s 3,100-mile bike trek, across the lower 48, in early 2020, was four years in the planning. He documented it in his two-hour film, “Discover Your Path Tour, A Journey To Inspire.”
The two-hour film includes drone shots, heart-to-heart conversations with participants in the foster care system, as well as those that work with the children, and conversations with Ehlert. Film proceeds will go towards creating a transitional living program for youth aging out of the foster care system called the Discover Your Path House, planned for Guilford. ....

The Koorie Engagement Action Group (KEAG) has received funding for the development of a soundscape by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians for people to listen to at the conclusion of the Survival Day Dawn Ceremony 2021.
Local musicians DeborahN and Peter Lovett will collaborate on the reflective soundscape which will be free to download.
The $3million State wide funding provided through the Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program will back 133 Victorian music businesses and artists.
Member for Wendouree, Juliana Addison said the funding would support almost 5000 jobs across the music industry which has been hard hit by the pandemic. ....

MCC students selected for Circle of Excellence honor

Sixteen Meridian Community College graduates have been chosen as members of the Fall 2020 Circle of Excellence.
The students, who studied in both the College’s University Transfer and career and technical education programs, are saluted for their academic achievement, leadership, community service and spirit.
Michael Thompson, dean of academic affairs, said the College established the Circle of Excellence designation to recognizes outstanding MCC graduates during graduation ceremonies. “These graduates are nominated by MCC faculty and staff,” he added.
College faculty and administrators applaud the students’ efforts. “To be chosen for this honor means a student performed exceptionally well academically, and was also a contributor to their community in serving others,” said Joseph Knight, MCC vice president for workforce solutions. “Simply put, they are students who strive for academic excellence and hel ....
