Moore resigns from city council; 2 seats now open Jay Hinton Glen Rose Reporter GLEN ROSE Dennis Moore resigned his seat on the Glen Rose City Council on Wednesday, and now the council has two open seats. “I wish the city employees all the best. They are a great group who serve the citizens well,” Moore said. “I wish the city much success for the days that lie ahead.” Moore, who was in his third term on the Glen Rose City Council, served as mayor from May 2013 to May 2015, and when Sue Oldenburg resigned in October 2018, he was named acting mayor until Pam Miller was appointed to the position in March of 2019. ....
Douglas, Conrad, Joslin sworn in Jay Hinton Glen Rose Reporter GLEN ROSE New mayor Julia Douglas and councilpersons Dee Conrad and Chip Joslin were officially sworn in shortly after the Glen Rose City Council canvassed the May 1 election results in a special meeting on Tuesday. Douglas, who was a member of the city council before running unopposed for mayor, replaces Pam Miller, who was appointed to the post in March of 2019. Joslin, the incumbent, received 215 votes in the election to retain his seat, while Conrad, a newcomer to the council, received 185 votes. They beat Johnny Martin (149) and Miller (113). Early voting continues for city council, GRISD Jay Hinton Glen Rose Reporter GLEN ROSE Early voting for the May 1 city of Glen Rose general election and the Glen Rose ISD school board ends Tuesday. Early voting is taking place for both at Glen Rose City Hall located at 201 NE Vernon St. On Monday, voting will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while on Tuesday, voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The council seats of Chip Joslin and Johnny Martin are open with four candidates running for those spots. Joslin and Martin are on the ballot as well as Dee Conrad and current mayor Pam Miller, who chose to run for a council seat instead of running for re-election as mayor. ....
