Kap 100 kick-off tomorrow night SHARE ON: The long-awaited official launch of Kapuskasing’s 100 th anniversary is just a couple of days away. The virtual social media event takes place Thursday at 6:30 on the Kap 100’s Facebook page. That’s the same day Kapuskasing was incorporated as a town. Committee Chairman Julien Boucher says going virtual was the furthest from the committee’s mind when first planning for the anniversary. “It will end up being a great legacy or a great souvenir that people are going to be able to watch five, 10 even 20 years from now,” he said. Boucher adds not only does the event include a photo exhibit, but special messages from a variety of dignitaries from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Premier Doug Ford. ....

Kap 100 Committee hopeful that grand opening galas can take place SHARE ON: Kapuskasing’s year-long 100 th birthday celebrations have certainly not gotten off to the start everyone had hoped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Committee Chairman Julien Boucher says the group is still hopeful to have the big kick-off bash on April 8 th if the town can have crowds of at least 50 people. “We are going to have a couple of spots or locations that are going to present the celebration, but the main venue is going to be at the Civic Centre,” he said. “We are going to celebrate people in town and have a live show as well.” ....
