But Officer James Doyle’s account doesn’t appear to fully mesh with footage from his body camera, forensic evidence and statements from other officers at the scene, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Prosecutors are now working to bring the case to a grand jury to decide whether Doyle will face charges for his use of deadly force.

Author: Kyle Iboshi (KGW) Updated: 7:02 PM PDT May 4, 2021 PORTLAND, Ore. Julie Goss spoke with a detective within a week of witnessing the deadly police shooting of Israel Berry on May 31, 2020. Goss said she was so close to the deadly encounter in Southeast Portland she could smell gun powder. “The officers jumped out of their cars, immediately got into a shooting stance and opened fire. He was shot five times through his windshield,” explained Goss.
