For the community of Brooksville, Mary Ann Hogan was more than a community leader. She was, and is, a community institution. Mary Ann Hogan passed away on June 4, 2021. She was 90 years old.
She was a member and chairperson of the Hernando County School Board. A member of the Junior Service League of Brooksville. A newspaper columnist for the Sun Journal, writing the popular column in the 1960’s called “Shifting Sand with Mary Ann.” She served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, the Board of Governors of Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), the Board of Directors of Brooksville’s Historical Museum and served as a member of the Hernando Chamber of Commerce.
Long Branch Pool will be opening for the summer swim season on Saturday. The pool is located on the west side of Long Branch Park, 1101 Branch Drive, in Killeen.

Funeral services have been held for Joan B. Introcaso of Jersey City. She passed away on May 9. A lifelong Jersey City resident, Joan was a graduate of Snyder H.S., received her Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland and her CPCU from College of Insurance. Joan was a fixture in the Jersey City business community where she served as President of the Henry Holtzmann Inc. (est. 1884) Insurance Agency on Danforth Avenue. Joan was a businesswoman ahead of her time. She forged a path for other women in business through her professionalism and drive. In 1977, she was elected to the State Democratic Committee. She was a founding member and NJ Director of Jaycee’s Women’s Auxiliary which opened pathways of involvement for women in business and charitable works in what had been an all-male domain. United Way of Pottawatomie County welcomes new executive director

United Way of Pottawatomie County welcomes Sandy Vanderburg as its next executive director.
Vanderburg will bring more than 10 years of hospitality, sales, and management experience to United Way of Pottawatomie County. In addition to her professional experience, Vanderburg has been an active member of the Shawnee community, volunteering for Junior Service League, participating in Leadership Shawnee, and serving as the hospitality leader for Life Church Shawnee.
“Sandy impressed the hiring committee with her results-driven professional work,” said Jennifer Bell, United Way Board president. “Her experience serving in Shawnee and her home state of Texas will also be beneficial in this role serving our partner agencies and the greater Pottawatomie County community.”
