By - Associated Press - Monday, May 3, 2021 SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A northwest Louisiana teacher faces criminal charges over accusations that she pushed a 7-year-old boy to the ground. Local news outlets report that Melody Harris Moffett, a first-grade teacher at Judson Elementary School in Shreveport, was arrested on April 20. She was booked into jail on a charge of simple battery. The child’s mother tells KSLA-TV she was not notified by the school about the incident, and didn’t know about it until her son told her that afternoon. Another mother also contacted her saying her child also told her about the incident, the boy’s mother said.

(KSLA) - A teacher at a Caddo elementary school faces a charge of simple battery following an incident that happened at the school on Tuesday, April 20. According to the police report, Melody Moffett, 66, is facing a charge of simple battery. Shreveport police tell KSLA that Moffett was arrested and booked into Shreveport City Jail. The child’s mother said she was not notified by the school, Judson Elementary, about the incident, and did not know about it until her son told her in the car that afternoon. Another mother contacted her later that afternoon saying that her child had also told her about the incident at school that day.

According to KSLA, the unnamed child was riding his bicycle at the LIVE Shreveport apartment complex near Judson Elementary School around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon when a truck hit the child, then immediately fled the scene.  The vehicle was described by eye witnesses as a white dually that left the scene of the crime down Lakeshore Drive just south of Cross Lake. The 4-year old was taken to an area hospital where he is receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

(KSLA) - A woman is facing a felony theft charge, accused of stealing money from school fundraisers. Precious Phillips, 31, (also known as Precious McClenty) turned herself in to authorities, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office. Phillips is a cheer sponsor at Judson Elementary. According to a news release, Phillips is accused of stealing $5,165 from school fundraisers and cheerleader dues between 2018 and 2020.
