Fazl ready to reset ties with establishment’ to fix flaws in system
PML-N and PPP have been asked to make up for the loss caused by their differences, says PDM chief

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, while softening his anti-establishment rhetoric, has offered an olive branch to the latter to rectify shortcomings in the system.
“Reconciliation or resistance with the establishment is not our aim. Everyone must work within their constitutional limits,” Fazl said while addressing a press conference following his party central executive committee meeting held in Islamabad on Tuesday.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of opposition alliance the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), on Tuesday said he was not expecting the PPP to seek support from the senators of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) to elect its leader of the opposition in Senate.
“We weren’t expecting that they [PPP and ANP] would make BAP their Baap [father],” the PDM chief replied to a reporter’s question. The BAP is considered to be the brainchild of the security establishment, which the PDM blames for the current political morass.

As the discord in opposition alliance intensified, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman summoned a meeting of constituent parties today (Tuesday).
Sources privy to the development told
The Express Tribune that the meeting will take place at the residence of the JUI-F chief in Islamabad.
Interestingly, the PDM chief has not invited two major opposition parties ANP and PPP to the meeting which have been at loggerheads with their allies over the matter of Senate opposition leader.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The opposition has been divided into two groups in the Senate as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) and other parties raised questions over Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Yousaf Raza Gillani’s appointment as Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House.
PML-N Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar addressed the Senate on Monday and said everyone knows what happened in the House on March 12 and votes were taken from the government members in opposition leader’s election. He expressed sorrow over the matter.

PPP has delayed its Central Executive Committee (CEC) scheduled for April 5 after President Arif Alvi convened a Senate session on the same day, party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said Saturday.
The PPP had called the CEC meeting to decide on resignations from assemblies after its leadership came under fire from the Opposition parties over the issue. While all major parties have shown their willingness for the move, PPP has sought time to deliberate on the matter.
