After the COVID-19 pandemic caused AthFest to cancel in 2020, organizers announced that the event will take place in 2021, with a change in the traditional dates.
The music and arts festival will take over downtown including live performances, an artist market, and beer gardens from September 24 to 26.
“We re thrilled to be producing the festival we love once again and to be bringing the community together to celebrate Athens music and art,” said Jill Helme, AthFest Educates Executive Director.
The 25th annual festival will have three outdoor stages, the Main Stage at the corner of Washington and Pulaski streets, the Hull St. Stage at the Hull St. and Hancock Ave. intersection, and a KidsFest stage at the Washington and Lumpkin streets intersection.
After being canceled last year due to the pandemic, the AthFest Music & Arts Festival is returning to Athens to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 24-26.
AthFest is put on each year by the nonprofit AthFest Educates, which works to promote music and arts education for kids in Athens Clarke-County. The festival, an annual multi-day event, features live music, food vendors, beer gardens and kidsâ activities through KidsFest.
