UNBC to honour former Timberwolves players

“The Timberwolves have been around for more than two decades, beginning in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association and moving to the Canada West conference and U SPORTS level of university competition,” said Loralyn Murdoch, UNBC director of athletics and recreation. “The time felt right to create a Wall of Honour to begin to really celebrate those extraordinary individuals who helped build this program into what it is.”
The plan is to honour additional inductees in future years, however future classes of inductees will be smaller.
“To go back over two decades, with multiple teams in multiple leagues, and narrow it down to 15 inductees was not easy. Nine staff members at UNBC are losing their jobs as of April 1st.
Interim President, Dr. Geoff Payne told MyPGNow.com it’s a difficult pill to swallow.
“We did send a communication from my office outlining the very unfortunate decision we made in terms of the office of University Advancement when it comes to the elimination of nine positions, which include four exempt positions and five CUPE positions.”
“It’s absolutely critical that I state this, this is not performance-related or COVID-related. The nine positions we had to eliminate were exceptional people who are friends and collegues who contributed substantially to UNBC”s community.” ....
