“The Timberwolves have been around for more than two decades, beginning in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association and moving to the Canada West conference and U SPORTS level of university competition,” said Loralyn Murdoch, UNBC director of athletics and recreation. “The time felt right to create a Wall of Honour to begin to really celebrate those extraordinary individuals who helped build this program into what it is.” The plan is to honour additional inductees in future years, however future classes of inductees will be smaller. “To go back over two decades, with multiple teams in multiple leagues, and narrow it down to 15 inductees was not easy. Known as the Period Promise Campaign, started by the United Way, aims to tackle the issue of period poverty – many people who need to use these products cannot afford them. The Northern British Columbia Graduate Student Society has been advocating for UNBC to provide free menstrual products in all of its washrooms, but the project still has a little ways to go. ....

Interim President, Dr. Geoff Payne told MyPGNow.com it’s a difficult pill to swallow. “We did send a communication from my office outlining the very unfortunate decision we made in terms of the office of University Advancement when it comes to the elimination of nine positions, which include four exempt positions and five CUPE positions.” “It’s absolutely critical that I state this, this is not performance-related or COVID-related.
