Wall of Honor Memorial honoring Lane County veterans vandalized The Wall of Honor Memorial in Skinner Butte Park was defaced over the weekend, Eugene police reported Monday. The graffiti on the memorial, which sits along the park s bike path, was blue paint and included an anarchy symbol. Jimmy Lynch was at the site Memorial Day morning, adding black paint to the lettering of the memorial. I live here and like to keep it nice and clean, Lynch said. This is something I can do as a sign painter. Lynch said another person used a power-washer to remove the graffiti, but they removed some of the memorial s original paint in the process.

(Georgia is listed because he entered the Army from there.) Marine Corsair fighter pilot First Lt. Bobby Goldberg, flying with VMF-511 on the USS Block Island, disappeared over the Pacific’s Ryukyu Islands in May 1945. Seven years later the government declared him killed in action.
