By Jim Measel May 11, 2021 | 11:38 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â The Coldwater City Council passed a resolution Monday night in support of the proposed MDOT roadway improvement project on U.S. 12 from Willow Lane to Western and Butters Avenue but not before they made several suggestions. MDOT wants to convert that stretch of U.S. 12 from its existing four-lane configuration to a three-lane configuration during the summer of 2023. The work could take place sooner if the funding becomes available. U.S. 12 is two lanes west of the City before it expands into four lanes for a short distance and then becomes a three lane configuration which includes a center turn lane from Western Avenue east into downtown. ....
By Jim Measel Apr 26, 2021 11:33 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â Four Coldwater City Council members along with Coldwater Mayor Tom Kramer have all filed to run for another term in office. Seeking another term are Travis Machin in the First Ward, Jim Knaack in the Second Ward, Michael Beckwith in the Third Ward and Randall Hazelbaker in the Fourth Ward. No challengers filed before last Tuesdayâs deadline at the Coldwater City Clerkâs office so an August Primary will not be needed. The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The Daily Reporter The mayor and two of four Coldwater city council member seats up for election this year have qualified for new terms. The other two are collecting signatures to get on the ballot by the April 20 deadline. According to Coldwater Clerk Sue Heath, no one else has asked for the forms to file. Mayor Tom Kramer, 69, filed his petition of 25 registered voters seeking a new two-year term. Kramer has been mayor since 2011. He has served on the council since 1985 except for two years. In the Second Ward, Jim Knaack, a member since 2016, filed for another term. Knaack, 51, a Lakeland Corrections administrator, first took office when he was named to replaced Gretchen Ennis. She was disqualified after her husband became a city employee. ....
