Jeanette Siemens Pratt Tribune Last Monday evening, Circles of Hope, Pratt County hosted a Big View Conversation. Big Views are hosted four times a year for the purpose of engaging our Circle Leaders as well as the rest of the community in conversations that are of interest to most everyone. Last evening s topic was Affordable Family Fun Things to Do. With school being out in the near future and the weather becoming warmer everyone is looking to get out and do something together. Presenters for the evening included Sandy Evans for Rolla Rena. The Rink is a great place to have a birthday party, special event or just going out for a great time and a bit of exercise. The Rolla Rena also has skate mates that can be used for those just learning to skate or those a bit unsure of themselves on wheels. They are open on Fridays from 2-9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. and again from 2 to 9 p.m. or of course, can be rented at other times. Rolla Rena also rents skates, h ....
Billie Blair Pratt Tribune A Skyline High School student’s love of agriculture brought a tradition back to Pratt, Kids Ag Day, this year. The annual event, usually planned by the Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee’s, was cancelled last year due to COVID-19 and plans for 2021 were not in the works until Cali Newdigger, a Skyline junior got the ball rolling. Newdigger, along with her FFA student advisor Anita DeWeese, and a group of like-minded friends brought the farm to Skyline students on April 12, and plans are in place to do the same for Pratt students on May 12. ....

But some holdout cedars remain and still need control. The Anderson Creek fire in 2016 taught ranchers lessons that they still follow today. Spring in the Gypsum Hills of Kansas is a time of renewal and new life. But for ranchers who experienced the Anderson Creek fire over nine devastating days in March 2016, spring also brings back lessons from the past. March 22 marked the five-year anniversary of the ignition of the Anderson Creek fire, which burned 620 square miles of rangeland in Comanche and Barber counties in Kansas and Woods County, Okla. The wildfire burned incredibly hot and fast due to high wind and the highly flammable eastern red cedars that smothered the grasslands. ....
