Under the bill, which was unanimously passed in New Zealand’s Parliament, mothers and their partners or spouses would be entitled to three days’ bereavement following the unplanned end of a pregnancy by miscarriage or still-birth at any point in the pregnancy. ....

'Frequent and punctual': Wellingtonians can expect an electric airport bus by July next year

Subject to the response from interested parties, an airport service should be up and running by July 1 next year, Gallagher said.
“Our preference would be, when we introduce this service, that we have the confidence and assurance it s going to be frequent and punctual,” he said.
“We’re also wanting to see that the service is a fully electric vehicle from the start.”
The bus would run between the airport and the Wellington railway station, but tie in with the rest of the network to ensure connectivity from all corners of the region, he said.
However, the push failed to sway regional councillors, whom oversee Metlink, the vast majority of whom voted against it at a meeting on April 22. ....

Lucy, her last name withheld, a senior student at Hutt Valley High, blames the government.
I have been let down, she said at a meeting in the school hall earlier this month which families called to seek answers from the Ministry of Education.
Lucy had just spent the first three days of term two working from home because her classrooms are a health risk.
Help has come too late. It is horrendously overdue, she added.
Hutt Valley High s problems are national news. Labour MP Ginny Andersen of Hutt South is using it as an example of chronic underfunding of schools. This is made worse, others say, by a property funding model that confuses the responsibilities of tenants (school boards) and owner (the ministry). ....
