Nara court hands man life term for slashing temp worker, setting him on fire

At the Nara District Court on February 26, presiding judge Kunitaka Iwasaki said that Shu Takekabu had an “excessive degree of disregard for life” in the murder of Naoki Yamaoka.
The sentence was that sought by the prosecution.
According to the ruling, Takekabu used a knife to slash Naoki Yamaoka on a road in Sakurai City on the evening of November 24, 2019.
Takekabu then brought Yamaoka to his residence in Kashihara City, located about 5 kilometers from the scene of the crime in Sakurai. He then set the residence ablaze.
Hyogo: Man, 65, accused of fatally stabbing girlfriend in Nishinomiya

HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police have arrested a 65-year-old man over the alleged fatal stabbing his girlfriend in Nishinomiya City, reports Jiji Press (Feb. 25).
Between around 5:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Masami Mizuno, of no known occupation, is alleged to have repeatedly stabbed Megumi Nakamura, 57, in the back at his residence.
Nakamura was transported to a hospital where she was later confirmed dead, the Nishinomiya Police Station said.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of murder on Thursday, Mizuno admitted to the allegations. “I became irritated with [her] attitude,” the suspect told police. “So I used a knife from in my house to stab her with the intention of murder.”

HYOGO (TR) – A third member of a criminal syndicate has been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose corpse was found buried in Kyoto Prefecture last year, police have revealed, reports Jiji Press (Feb. 5).
According to police, Wataru Okada, the 48-year-old boss of a gang within the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, allegedly assisted in the murder of Chikara Yoshida, 47, of no known occupation, and the dumping of his corpse in the mountains of Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto on around December 7, 2019.
Okada was accused of murder and abandoning a corpse on February 5. Police did not reveal whether the suspect admits to the allegations.
