Jasper Police issue report on Friday fatal crash

Jasper Police on Monday issued a report on the accident that occurred north of Jasper on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of two people and injuries to six other people.
A report filed by Sergeant Josh Beckman said the crash occurred when a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis that was headed southbound on Highway 96, just north of Hammer Equipment Company, hydroplaned in standing water, causing it to spin around in the roadway, colliding with a northbound 2016 Kia Sorento sport utility vehicle.
According to the report, two passengers in the Mercury died as a result of the crash.
Robyn Grimble, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene and Vallencia Fillyaw, age 2, died a short time later while undergoing treatment at Jasper Memorial Hospital. ....

Two Louisiana Motorcyclists Injured in Texas Wreck

KJAS in Jasper reports that two Louisiana motorcyclists were critically injured in an accident on Saturday, March 6, 2021, that involved multiple motorcycles.
About 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Burkeville firefighters were dispatched to the scene on Highway 87, about 4 miles north of Burkeville. The Texas Department of Public Safety investigation revealed that a 2005 BMW was traveling southbound on Highway 87 when the driver entered a curve at a high rate of speed and lost control of the bike causing it to leave the road and hit several trees.
Two other motorcycles crashed into each other as they attempted to go around the first accident. The driver of the 2005 BMW motorcycle, 68-year-old Aaron LeBlanc of Louisiana, was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial hospital. ....

NEWTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Emergency personnel responded to three separate crashes involving a total of four motorcycles on State Highway 87 in Newton County Saturday afternoon. Two Louisiana men were injured in one of the wrecks.
According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to three crashes involving four motorcycles on SH 87 at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The wrecks occurred near FM 1415.
The preliminary crash report shows that in the first wreck, Aaron LeBlanc, 68, was driving a 2005 BMW motorcycle south on SH 87. He was allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed as he entered a curve and lost control. ....
