LAHORE: A magisterial court on Wednesday sent PML-N MNA Javed Latif to jail on 14-day judicial remand, an accused of allegedly defaming state institutions and inciting people against the state. Javed was arrested after his pre arrest bail was cancelled by a Sessions Court. Police produced MNA before the court of judicial magistrate. The magistrate has sent the accused to jail on judicial remand. The court has also directed police to submit challan of the case on the next hearing. The Township Police had registered a case against Javed Latif over a complaint, filed by a citizen, Jameel Saleem, for maligning the state institutions. The case was registered under sections including 120, 120-B, 153, 153-A, 500 and 500 1–B. ....

LAHORE: A magisterial court Monday extended four-day physical remand of PML-N MNA Javed Latif, an accused of allegedly defaming state institutions and inciting people against the state.
The MNA was arrested after his pre-arrest bail was cancelled by a sessions’ court. Police produced Javed Latif before the court of judicial magistrate Zunaira Zafar and sought extension in his physical remand to carry out further investigation. The police said still it has to recover cell-phone of the accused.
While accepting plea of the police, the judge extended four-day physical remand of Javed Latif, directing police to produce him again before the court on May 7 along with the investigation report. Township Police Station had registered a case over a complaint filed by Jameel Saleem, against PML-N MNA Javed Latif for maligning the state institutions. ....

LHC disposes of plea challenging Javed Latif's arrest

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday disposed of a petition challenging the arrest of PML-N MNA Javed Latif, in the light of a report submitted by the inspector general of police (IGP) Punjab.Justice Anwaarul Haq Pannun heard the petition filed by Munawar Latif, brother of Javed Latif. Javed Latif was produced before the court.
A report was submitted on behalf of the IGP at the start of proceedings, wherein it was stated that the Township Police had registered a case against Javed Latif over anti-state remarks and he was arrested as per law in connection with the case. Javed Latif was produced before a judicial magistrate who remanded him in police custody till May 3 for investigations. ....
