Sturgis Journal After lengthy discussion Monday, Sturgis Township Board voted 4-1 to have 1.5 miles of Stubey Road paved, funded in part through matching funds secured by the county. The township board will pay $89,000 to have Stubey Road paved from Fawn River Road to the Indiana state line. Board officials said asphalt bid pricing came to John Lindsey, managing director at St. Joseph County Road Commission, at a rate approximately 10 percent less than anticipated. The board previously had favored paving Stubey Road from Fawn River Road to U.S. 12, approximately 1 mile, with the southern section at 1.5 miles to come later. With bid pricing for paving coming in at a lower cost, board officials ultimately decided to have the southern part of the Stubey Road stretch paved this year, and the remainder leading up to U.S. 12 at another time. ....
