Donald C. Kane, 94, of Lewes passed away at Beebe Medical Center Thursday, May 6, 2021. Mr. Kane was born in Summit Bridge, Sept. 4, 1926, son of the late George Theodore and Margaret Deputy Clark Kane. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, George T. Kane Jr. and Roland H. Kane.
Mr. Kane attended A. I. duPont High School, and when he became 17 years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served in the Pacific theatre during WWII. He was honorably discharged with the rank of petty officer AMM2C in 1946. Following the military, he returned home and joined his father George T. Kane Sr., and his brother Roland H. Kane, in the Kane’s Texaco family business located at Prices Corner in Wilmington. While working for the family business, Donald formed a keen interest in planes, and earned his required aviation licenses and ratings which would lead him to his next career as a corporate pilot for Atlantic Aviation in 1960.
