100 Years Ago: March 4, 1921 Nicholas Cafantaros and Charles Thiras, proprietors of the fruit and confectionary store at 42 Main St., were fined $100 each in Andover police court Monday morning before Judge Stone on charges of illegally keeping intoxicating liquors with intent to sell. In a raid conducted at their place of business by the police Saturday afternoon, three quarts of “moonshine,” a gallon of hard cider, and fifty or sixty bottles of Jamaica ginger were seized.
