Pupils at Little Parndon Primary Academy, in Harlow, supported Young Carers Action Day by wearing funky socks. The day was used to raise awareness among pupils about what a young carer is, how to let the school know if they believe they have a carer role and the support available to those taking care of someone at home. Georgina Jones, Young Carers school operational lead, said: “We took part in Young Carers Action Day to celebrate both the young carers we have in school and to show our support for young carers across the country. “The day was very successful and, as a result, we had children come forward who we had not yet identified as young carers and we will now go on and refer them to the specialist support services available. We will also support them in school as needed.”
