[email protected] JOHNSTOWN The city of Johnstown Water Board will conduct its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Johnstown Water Department, 27 E. Main St., according to a news release. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting which will be closed to the public will be broadcast using Facebook Live. The public can view the meeting live on the “Johnstown Water Department” Facebook page. [email protected] JOHNSTOWN The city Water Board recently supported additional flows for a housing unit project being done off North Perry Street. The board approved a motion to adopt a “utility will serve” letter requested by local architect David D’Amore. He requested the letter for a 64-unit project by Fulton Friendship Lodge to be built at 507 N. Perry St. The project is being proposed based on a daily average and peak range of 6,400 to 10,000 gallons of water per day. Board President Michael Capparello said he received a letter from Senior Water Treatment Plant Operator John Denmark, who is okay with the Fulton Friendship allocation. ....
[email protected] JOHNSTOWN The city of Johnstown Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday and will continue through May 11, according to a news release. The residents may notice a drop in water pressure and are advised to use caution while doing laundry, as flushing may cause water discoloration. The residents are advised that if they have discoloration in their water to let the water run for a few minutes and the water should clear up. The water is safe for drinking, cooking and bathing, according to Senior Water Plant Operator John Denmark. ....
[email protected] JOHNSTOWN The city has to relocate a water main or mains as part of the state’s next safety project on Route 30A. The Common Council on Feb. 15 at City Hall passed a resolution to authorize the relocation in conjunction with the second phase of the state Department of Transportation’s Routes 30A/29 project. DOT is proposing reconstruction of Route 30A toward the south a second phase. A similar widening project was done by DOT in 2019 from Townsend Avenue, south to Briggs Street. The new project will stretch from Briggs Street to the Prindle Avenue area. City officials said the state will include as part of the construction, reconstruction or improvement of the project the relocation and adjustment to water mains. Changes are being made pursuant to state Highway Law. ....
