NGX All-Share Index Rises 0.2% as Market Extends Gains

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited All-Share Index (ASI) rose 0.2 per cent to close higher at 38,548.24 as the market extended its recovery for the second day.
The appreciation was supported by gains recorded by MTN Nigeria Plc, FCMB Group Plc and Lafarge Africa Plc. Market capitalisation added N34.3 billion to close at N20.1 trillion. Similarly, the volume and value of trading improved 59.1 per cent and 41.2 per cent to 249.7 million shares and N1.9 billion respectively.
The most traded stocks by volume were Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (35.5 million shares), FCMB Group Plc (22.7 million shares), and AXA Mansard Insurance Plc (16.9 million shares) while Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc (N182.9 million), Lafarge Africa Plc (N100.3 million), and MTN Nigeria Plc(N99.2 million) led by value. ....

Stock Market Sheds N368bn as Investors Take Profit

The Nigerian stock market shed N368 billion last week following profit-taking activities by some investors after the massive gains in January. The market had appreciated by N1.1 trillion in January due to sustained high demand for stocks.
However, the bears set in the first week of February as some investors moved in to lock in part of the gains.
Bearish sentiments dominated the local bourse in all the five trading sessions. Consequently, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index (ASI) fell by 1.66 per cent to close lower at 41.709.09, while market capitalisation shed N368 billion to be at N21.819 trillion. ....

FBN Holdings PLC has announced the appointments of Mr. Seni Adetu and Mrs. Juliet Anammah as Independent Non-Executive directors, while Mr. Otu Hughes has been appointed as a Non-Executive director. These appointments are subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (“CBN”).
