Hendo and the Jr. Hounds are on hiatus until the New Year

They have shown well through eight games to date with their COVID-19 cohorts from the Great North Under 18 Hockey League.
To be sure, head coach Jamie (Hendo) Henderson and his Soo Jr. Greyhounds have posted an impressive record of 4-2-2 against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in eight mini matches thus far this season.
But aside from inter squad competition and scheduled skill sessions, the Jr. Greyhounds and the rest of the teams in the Great North are now on hiatus from game play until a yet to be determined date in January.
Meantime, the hard-driven, hard-driving Henderson has liked what he has seen of the Jr. Greyhounds so far in successive weekends of home and home play with the Nickel Capital Wolves. ....

City services impacted by Province-wide shutdown

Due to the holiday season and as a result of the Regulations under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, the following City services will be impacted:
Administrative Offices
The Cemetery office, GFL Memorial Gardens, Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre, Sault Transit, Fire Services Administration and Public Works and Engineering Services offices will be closed beginning December 24 at noon until Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. and on Friday, January 1, 2021.
The offices will be open during the two-week Provincial lockdown only for essential services. Citizens with urgent matters requiring the attention of staff are advised to contact the appropriate department. ....

New COVID-19 cases ranged between a low of 1,676, the lowest reported this month, and a high of 1,983, marking a new record, this week.
The province reported record-breaking daily numbers for three consecutive days Saturday through Monday. Thursday s 1,983 broke Monday s 1,925 record.
On Tuesday, Public Health Ontario reported 1,676 new cases, which was the lowest this month. 
Ontario s top doctors released new modelling numbers this week. Numbers indicate that the province could hit 5,000 new daily COVID-19 cases by January. Top docs say in any scenario, ICU occupancy will continue to rise above 200 beds for the next month. ....
