Staff Writer BELLAIRE Three people were arrested on various drug charges after police served a search warrant Monday at a Bellaire home. The Bridgeport Police Department, in conjunction with the Bellaire Police Department, executed the search warrant at a house along the 4200 block of Trumbull Street in Bellaire. Bridgeport Police Chief John Bumba said a narcotics investigation that began in Bridgeport led police to the Bellaire residence. Officers reportedly seized approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine, dozens of illicit pills, more than $2,000 worth of counterfeit currency, approximately $1,100 in cash and three firearms. A check presentation was held Sunday, although the funds were already donated and used to purchase the equipment earlier this month. Debbie Stanton, program officer at the CFOV, presented the department with the check. Police Chief John Bumba said the Hands-Free Ohio provisions could help reduce distracted driving accidents. In an effort to make the roadways safer for travel, Gov. Mike DeWine introduced the “Hands-Free Ohio” provision in his Executive Budget proposal that would strengthen distracted driving laws. The provision would make handling any electronic wireless device while driving a primary offense for adult drivers and would also increase fines for drivers who habitually use devices while driving, according to a news release. Ohio is currently only one of four states without primary enforcement laws for adults. ....
