Another 43 people, on top of the 20 laid off earlier in the year, have lost their jobs at Mandan’s Heartview after the closure of its inpatient and detox services, according to executive director, Al Gillette. During the 1980s, Heartview had more than 100 staff members, but, since 1988, has experienced continued staff reductions, resulting in only eight people to staff the entire day treatment center. The cost cutting actions are a result of changes in insurance coverage called Managed Care, designed to cut medical costs by exchanging in-person services to outpatient treatment. The Mandan Heartview Foundation was established in 1964.

Missoula welcomes new film studio


Treasure State Studios wants to shine a light on Montana s talent, resources and locations.
Production companies can rent out the space and bring in their crew or hire the Missoula-based company, With a Cause Productions, to help out.
Co-owner John Niles said either way, they ll be spoiled with the studio s equipment.
So, we have a cyclorama, we ve got industry standard lighting, grip and electric gear. We have a grandma s parlor chic decorated green room, with an adjacent River Runs Through It [themed] makeup suite, Nilles said.
Despite all the Hollywood glitz and glamour, Nilles is a fifth generation Montanan and wants the studio to support other Montanans pursing film. ....

Baker “Bake” Elliott passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 at 98 years of age, having achieved his goal of being the longest-lived member of a family that has seen many of its members enjoy a similar fullness of years.
He was the son of Rhoda Baker Elliott and Harold Elliott; husband of Dorothy Flynn Elliott for 70 years; brother of Marilyn (Bill Rodee) and Sally (Harry Payne); father of Barbara (Brian Lee), Bob (Bonnie), and Cindy (John Niles); grandfather of Adria (Amy Pennington-Lee), Brigitte (Ben Snell), Candy, Melissa, Tina, and Scott (Leigh Arquiett); uncle of Elliott (Mary), Leslee (Steve Hooper), and Terri (Doug Rodee-Knuth); and great grandfather of his beloved great grandchildren. ....
