From Staff Reports ADRIAN The Croswell Opera House s outdoor summer season will begin with a rock concert at 7 p.m. May 21 in the Farmers Market Pavilion in downtown Adrian. The concert, titled “One-Hit Wonders,” is being arranged by Dave Rains and Jon Diener and will feature vocalists Eric Parker and Melissa Toth backed by a band of Croswell musicians. Artists like Tommy Tutone, The Foundations and The Knack, which had one big hit before slipping off the charts, will be featured, a news release said. It is the first of three outdoor concerts the Croswell is planning over the summer. The second, on July 23, will highlight horns, and the third, on Sept. 11, will be a concert of soul classics. ....
Finding grace, beauty and hope in times of grief The Monroe News One of my favorite poets is Mary Oliver. As a graduate student many years ago, I noticed a book of her writings in the seminary bookstore. I discovered poetry that drew me into her world of nature, passion and mindfulness. When walking along Granbury Texas’ town square a few weeks ago, I strolled into a bookstore and found Oliver’s book “Devotions.” This book was her personally arranged anthology of her work, completed before her death in 2019. I had not read her poetry in many years. Life has that way about it; getting swept away in the business, the details, the joys and the challenges. So I bought “Devotions” and have taken time since my Texas vacation to renew my acquaintance with Mary Oliver’s poetry. ....
