The BBB said scam artists try to take money and then extort people for more. If they don t pay, they threaten to contact the school exposing them as a cheat.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. These days lots of people are considering hiring a tutor.

Pinson Council approves $95,000 grant for CPFD training facility

PINSON The Pinson City Council voted on Thursday, May 6, to approve a $95,000 grant to the Center Point Fire District for the construction of a new fire training facility. The cities of Center Point and Clay have also given $95,000 grants toward the project, which will benefit not only these three communities but multiple fire districts throughout the state.
“It’s not about (Center Point Fire District); it’s about multiple jurisdictions,” Capt. Chris Horn said. “Even the chief from Glenwood, he reached out to us and also found us a grant that we applied for; we have not received it yet.” ....

Music Academy of the West Hopeful For 2021 Summer Festival

The 2021 Summer School and Festival will feature exceptional faculty, guest artists, and unique collaborations that will impact the community through performance and learning opportunities.
The fellow experience online and in person will include seminars with professionals who influence music and society, and private lessons with faculty and Mosher guest artists.
As part of a multi-year partnership, London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) musicians will coach remotely, with the option for orchestral instrumentalists to audition for the opportunity to perform with the LSO and music director Sir Simon Rattle as a part of the Keston Music Academy Exchange.
Signature events of the festival for audiences will include masterclasses, chamber concerts by fellow and faculty ensembles, side-by-side performances, and competitive events including the Solo Piano Competition, Fast Pitch Awards, and the Digital Challenge launched last summer. ....

City of Pinson, Pinson Helping Others, to host barbecue cook-off fundraiser Saturday for tornado victims

PINSON – During the regular Pinson City Council meeting Thursday, March 4, 2021, Mayor Joe Cochran reminded those in attendance that a fundraiser will be held at Bicentennial Park on Saturday, March 6, for the tornado victims at the Rusk and Wares mobile home parks. The fundraiser, a barbecue cook-off competition, will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., and there will be entertainment on the Bicentennial Park Stage throughout the event.
“We met Monday evening at a local church down in Roebuck with the EMA, The United Way and Catholic Charities, and about 35 people from the mobile home park,” Cochran said, adding that United Way will place a case worker in the affected area and that committees are being put in place to make sure each resident gets the help they need. “Every Tuesday, we will interview people for their needs.” ....
