First Interview: Hubert Davis as UNC s New Head Coach
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three hours after he was announced as the new head coach of the North Carolina Basketball program on Monday, Hubert Davis did his first interview in familiar territory. Davis joined the College GameDay show, reuniting with some of the crew that he worked with for seven years at ESPN, and the comfort was immediately evident.
Amid jokes, personal jabs, and repeated laughter, Davis answered pertinent questions about his Tar Heel story, his path to this job, what it means to him to be taking over at UNC, and how he plans to put his stamp on the program.

The 2021 AfroBasket qualifiers will tip off from February 19 to 21 in Kigali, Rwanda.
Brown, who took charge of D’Tigers last November, said he would be with his NBA team: Golden State Warriors.
D’Tigers got off to an impressive start in the first round of the 2021 Afrobasket qualifiers, recording wins over South Sudan, Rwanda and Mali.
“I will not come back in February for the second round of qualifiers because I have to be with the Golden State Warriors,” Brown told ESPN.
“But all the other guys will be there. We got a nice staff who are all going to return in February.

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown will not be available to lead the Nigeria national team at their AfroBasket qualifiers in February, and will be subbed by former D Tigers coach Alex Nwora.
Almost a year exactly since Brown replaced Nwora as the Nigeria head coach, while retaining his job at Golden State, the NBBF are set to go back to their ex, so to speak.
